Unshielded Twisted Pair UTP
It is now possible to achieve high quality, real time video transmission using inexpensive unshielded twisted pair (UTP) cable. In fact the on-screen picture is near fibre optic transmission quality. The UTP cable can transmit video, power and telemetry to the camera in the same wire bundle, thus saving on seperate cables and more importantly, their installation costs. Distances of up to 1600 metres are possible depending on the type of UTP cable used.
